If you trust in the world, that's what you get. The world loves its own, and that's very true. I am not of the world, nor do I desire any things of the world, unless they are given and used by God for my life. Otherwise I know from His Word that the world passeth away and the lusts thereof, but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.
Personally I think if you're a follower of the world, you're a fool. All you'll get in the end is sorrow and disappointment, and you'll go to Hell when you die. Is it really worth it, to spend your whole life on things that rob your soul of real fulfillment? Are you aware that those temporary gifts you received at Christmas will wear out and break? Maybe someone else will claim them after you die. Maybe you'll get tired of them. Maybe you'll lose them and spend more wasted time trying to get them back. What a waste of a life if you depend on earthly things.
You'll only have true peace and satisfaction from one Source, that is, the Lord Jesus Christ. If you believe that He died on the cross for you, taking on Himself every sin you have committed and will commit, then you have eternal life.
